Young Categories: Piano, Violin, Chamber Music

The competition in this category will consist of one session open to the public.

Category I (Age 7-12): Free program of 2 different style periods with a duration of 5-12 minutes.

Category II (Age 13-17): Free program of 2 different style periods with a duration of 12-20 minutes.

At least one composition has to be performed from memory.
Young competitors in categories above must supply their own accompanist.

Adult Category (Age 18-33): Violin Solo (without an accompaniment)

The competition in this category will consist of three sessions open to the public.

During the first round the following compositions must be executed:

- two contrasting movements or Chaconne from Sonatas and Partitas for Violin Solo by J.S.Bach

- a Caprice for Violin Solo by N.Paganini

During the second round

- every violinist has to perform a complete composition originally written for Violin Solo (B.Bartok, E.Ysaye, E.Bloch etc). It is not permitted to select any of the compositions from the previous round.

a Special Violin Prize and Diploma for the best execution of this contemporary work – Concert Performance at Pacific Contemporary Music Center in California State University, Los Angeles (USA) will be Awarded.
This work is not a compulsory composition

The program to be executed in the final will be chosen by the jury and will consist of works executed in the first and second rounds.

Adult Category (Age 18-33): Piano Solo

The competition in this category will consist of three sessions open to the public.

During the first round the following compositions must be executed within a time frame of minimum 20 minutes and maximum 35 minutes:

- One prelude and fugue from Well-Tempered Clavier of Bach ( Book 1 or 2)

- One or two studies of Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Stravinsky, Bartok or Ligetti.

- One classical sonata of Mozart, Haydn or Beethoven.

During the second round every pianist has to perform a program of approximately half an hour. The program must include at least three compositions:

- One composition of romantic period

- One composition or movement composed after 1920

Adult Category: Chamber Music (from 2 to 5 instruments, including Piano Ensemble-Four Hands)

The competition in this category will consist of three sessions open to the public.

During the first round the following compositions must be executed within a time frame of minimum 20 minutes and maximum 35 minutes:

- a movement or a composition, composed after 1920

- movements/compositions of at least 2 different style periods (baroque, early classic, classic, early romantic, impressionism/expressionism). One of the works to be performed in the first round must be a movement or movements of a multi-movement composition, approx. 15 minutes.

During the second round every ensemble has to perform a program of approximately half an hour. The program must include a complete composition. It is not permitted to select any of the compositions from the previous round.

The program to be executed in the final will be chosen by the jury and will consist of works executed in the first and second rounds.

The Artistic Committee will have the right to accept or reject any of the program submitted.

Three complete sets of scores of the performance repertoire will be required of each pianist, violinist or ensemble. Failure to meet requirements might result in disqualification.

The Jury will have the right to ask for partial performance and to interrupt it, if it exceeds the prescribed time limits. However, if requested, candidates should be prepared to perform the composition entirely.
